Major League Baseball All Star outfielder, Curtis Granderson founded the Grand Kids Foundation to aid positive youth development via education, physical fitness and nutrition - providing tools and resources for educational and societal advancement.

Considered to be one of the most philanthropic athletes in professional sports, Granderson serves as an International Ambassador of Major League Baseball, National Ambassador of the White House’s anti-obesity campaign, Let’s Move! and Spokesperson for the Partnership for a Healthier America’s Drink Up water initiative.

In 2009, Granderson authored a children’s book, All You Can Be, which shares personal stories from his youth encouraging children to chase after their dreams. Proceeds from All You Can Be benefit the Grand Kids Foundation, which hosts a series of annual community programs in addition to the Grand Kids Scholarship/Grant Program.

In 2012, Granderson made an initial donation of $5 Million to his alma mater – The University of Illinois at Chicago – for the development of Curtis Granderson’s Grand Kids Youth Academy at UIC. UIC contributed an additional $4.5 Million for the project, which will serve Chicago’s inner-city youth. In this unrivaled partnership, Granderson and UIC are committed to bringing America’s favorite past time to thousands of kids annually in the City of Chicago by providing experiences that will aid in their mental and physical development.
